 Learning to be Frugal
Part One
In these trying financial times being frugal or learning to be frugal can either be a struggle or a entertaining experience. Let’s hope this will be an entertaining one for you.

Welcome to a series of learning to be frugal.

Just what is being Frugal? Well according to the American Heritage Dictionary it is the practise or marked by economy, as in the expenditure of money or the use of material resources; costing little, inexpensive.

I starting this in the laundry room, more specific the dryer.

Did you know that you can make your own dryer sheets? Well you can.  Why use dryer sheets to begin with? If you have sensitive skin or a new born baby in the house, using a liquid softener in the rinse cycle washes the very chemicals into the fibres (fibers).  Remember you will be wearing these clothes and sweating which could lead to things I really do not want to discus, could be just too icky to discus. Imagine being a new born baby. They already have sensitive skin, don’t add to it.

Making your own dryer sheets is not that expensive, does not take a great deal of time and will save you money in the long term.
Items you will need:
1.An old t-shirt or old flannel sheeting, wash cloths, old and stained dish cloths  that has seen its last days. Old diapers work well also.
2.One large bottle of liquid fabric conditioner.
3.Scissors where needed and possible needle and thread to whip stitch the raw edges of fabric.

Instructions;
Cut your material approximately in 6×9 squares if you are using old diapers and t-shirts.
Mix together in a container that seals tight
Pieces of fabric, with 4 TBS liquid softener and 10 TBS water, U.K. measurements are 3.199 TBS total and 7.998 TBS total of water.
Lay the fabric in the container of your choice mix the liquid ingredients together and shake well. When ready to use squeeze out as dry as you can and pop in the dryer.

This can be made in advance or at the time you start your laundry.
If you are daring you can add a drop or two of your favourite scented oil or your favourite perfume.
You will save yourself not just time but in the long run money.

Welcome to Isabel’s

First I would like to welcome you to the first of many words that I hope we will be sharing together. Plus I would like to take the time to introduce myself. I am Yvonne Oots and have decided to bring in an alter ego Isabel to write in an entirely new genre. I have been published in various Country Music Magazines since 1991 and have had two stories published for charity. The first was “Stories of Strength” headed by Jenna Glatzer the second was “Forever Friends” headed by Shelagh Watkins.

Isabel’s came about after seeking advice from many of my media friends here in Nashville, TN. And after giving the idea much thought and many tears and I have to admit more than a few glasses of wine the idea of writing under a pseudonym intrigued me.

I hope you will come to like Isabel and her blog as much as I have enjoyed getting to know her.
